1947 Krav Maga
'1947' refers to the year Tony's father landed in the British Mandate of Palestine to work with the British Military, a year before the State of Israel was formed.
The term "Krav Maga" (close contact in Hebrew) was not used in 1947; however it soon became the standard hand-to-hand combat used by Military, Law Enforcement and Civilians for Self-Defense to this day.
Imrich (Imi) Lichtenfeld formulated the system as a hybrid of his previous experiences both real, and sport-based.
Imi and Tony’s father were both in the country at the same time, although there is no evidence that they ever met).
